What is The Cinci Sing?

At The Cinci Sing, every voice matters. We’re a growing community in Cincinnati where folks gather to sing simple, beautiful songs — no pressure, no prerequisites. Whether it’s your very first time or your hundredth, you’re welcome here.

About The Cinci Sing

Sing for joy. Sing for well-being. Sing together.

The Cinci Sing is a growing constellation of community singing gatherings across Cincinnati. We meet in community spaces, bookshops, parks, and yoga studios, wherever people feel safe and welcome to sing simple, soulful songs in together in harmony.

These are not performances. There are no auditions, no sheet music, and no experience necessary. We sing by ear and heart, side by side. Whether you’ve sung all your life or are just finding your voice, there’s a place for you here.

Who we are:

The Cinci Sing was founded by April Combs Mann, a storyteller, musician, and community song leader with a passion for accessible, heart-centered singing. Inspired by the Singing Mamas model and rooted in the oral tradition, The Cinci Sing welcomes all voices just as they are.

Why we sing:

Singing together is ancient medicine, and modern science agrees. Research shows that group singing can:

  • Lower stress and anxiety by reducing cortisol

  • Boost mood and emotional resilience by releasing dopamine and oxytocin

  • Strengthen immune and respiratory function

  • Build deep social bonds and ease loneliness

  • Even synchronize heartbeats and brainwaves

In a world that often rushes us along, singing helps us slow down and reconnect—with ourselves, with each other, and with something greater.

  • Everyone is welcome! No experience or training needed. All ages and backgrounds are invited. Some gatherings are family-friendly, others focus on new parents or adult singers.

  • Singing offers powerful benefits for your body, mind, and community:

    • Releases mood-boosting neurochemicals like endorphins and serotonin

    • Improves breathing, posture, and lung health

    • Lowers stress by reducing heart rate and blood pressure

    • Creates social bonds through shared breath and voice

    • Stimulates brain regions linked to language, memory, and emotion

Singing in community makes these benefits even stronger. Come experience it yourself!
